One of the most powerful capabilities of Chameleon is to be able to show in-product experiences to the most relevant users. Showing relevant and contextual guidance will improve its effectiveness and drive the most engagement.

When creating a Chameleon Experience, you have the option to set the Target Audience, where you can select one of the pre-configured audiences, or create a custom segment.

Default audiences

Chameleon offers some pre-built audiences, which you can use without sending any custom data to Chameleon (aside from uid, which is required to identify users). These audiences include:

Audience name

All users

All users that visit the page where the tour begins and have not seen it before.

Just me

Shown only to the last person that published the Experience.

Chameleon admins

All users that are admins on your Chameleon account.

Team members

Users whose email address has the same domain as your account (based on the first user who signed up for your account). This audience requires an email property to be sent to Chameleon.

Chrome users

All users who are currently using the Chrome browser.

Creating a custom audience

You can also create and save your own custom audiences that can use a combination of Filters (conditions). This includes data Chameleon automatically collects, data you send directly to Chameleon (using our API) or data available from your connected integrations.

From the Builder: Click "Add new Segment..." to be redirected to the Segments page where you can name your new Segment and start to define filters. Once you save your changes, your Segment will be immediately available for use in Experiences.

From the Segments page: Click on the green "+" button to add a new Segment in a new tab, or start adding filters in the All users tab and then click "Save as new" to save it as a new Segment.

Using segmentation filters

Any user data (properties or events) you send to Chameleon will be available as segmentation filters, which you can combine to create your custom Target Audiences.

Segmentation filters are categorized according to their data origin. Depending on the data you have available, you'll see different Filter Groups in your Segments Dashboard.

The following different groups of filters are available:
